To ensure your happiness with the finished portrait, two sketches are made for your approval: one is an oil sketch to preview the colors and arrangement of the composition, the second is a detailed drawing in graphite and white chalk that represents the subject's face. This process allows for discussion and adjustment before beginning the actual portrait. All the reference photography is my own work; I think it is an important step in establishing a relationship between the sitter and artist. I also like to see favorite photographs you may have, and any objects or furnishings you may wish to include in the painting. Inclusion of these things or perhaps a significant place add layers of meaning to the work and make it personal. I also provide a final varnishing done six months after the painting's completion and assistance in selecting a suitable frame. I make every effort to achieve a satisfactory result and guarantee my work.
